On the 1st of February, we celebrated Chinese New Year together in our Playgroup classroom. To enhance the mood of the New Year celebration, we had Chinese New Year celebration songs on repeat from 7am to 9am. It was a fun-filled day where we get almost all of the children to dress up in their Chinese costume and beautiful dresses.
Let’s look how adorable the children look on the joyous day!

Muhsayne looked very adorable as he came in school with the dashing red and gold Chinese traditional costume complete with the cute cap.
Du Jing Xi also came in with his gold traditional costume. He kept pointing to the dragon motifs that is on his costume.
And sure, the twins , Raelene and Leia was dressed up in a beautiful pink cheongsam with cute plaited hair.
To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the children first watched a video of a lion dance performance and then they explored and played with the mini lion dance head gear. There were different sets of reaction when we brought in the mini lion dance head gear. There were a few that got scared but many of them were thrilled and excited to play with it.
Sun Yu Tong courageously took the headgear and started the ball rolling. He imitated some of the movements from the video that he had watched earlier. He moved the head gear side to side as he approached nearer to his friends.
Keryn held the head gear and moved all around the classroom and approached the new girl from toddler’s class, Mya.
Keryn was enjoying herself with the head gear on her head. She gave a big ROAR as she saw the camera.
It was Punith’s turn to take control of the lion dance. He held the lion head and some of his friends held up the tail just like how they have seen from the lion dance video.
After a tiring dance, the children were given some treats and goodie bags that were provided from our lovely parents. There were a lot of treats that we didn’t know which to taste first. Before the children went for shower, we gave out an award called the ‘Best Dressed Child’. We were spoilt for choices as almost all look great and beautiful on that day. So, we had to choose a winner, and here is she with a winning look!

We hope it is not too late for us to wish all our lovely parents a very Happy Chinese New Year!
