Let’s make Banana Ball!

In this week’s home science activity, the children get their hands dirty as they are making banana balls! This simple activity uses simple ingredients such as bananas, crushed nuts and cinnamon.

Through this activity children used their sense of smell and touch throughout the process. The children also enjoyed the sweet taste of banana as well as the crushed nuts.

In this activity, children were able to refine their motor skills when they were trying to smash the banana in the bowl using a fork and roll the mixture into a ball size.

So let’s begin!
First we all need to get some banana.

“Teacher, look! A sad face!” Audrey said as she turned over the banana and placed it in front of her face.

Then we need some crushed nuts,
Leia wanted to taste the crushed nuts and so she took a pinch of the crushed nuts and put them into her mouth. “Eeee! I don’t like!” said Leia.

We shall now move on how to prepare the banana ball!

Leia smashed the banana and said “Smash, smash” as she pressed her fork on the banana. Hong Zheng waited patiently for his turn by the side.

Hong Zheng used both his hands to hold the fork as he tried to smash the banana.

One, Two, Three, Four, Five!” the children counted together as they pinched some crushed nuts to be added into the smashed banana.

“Teacher, my banana ball is so cute!” said Ho Sze Wai as she rolled the smashed banana all over the plate.

“Eeee! Sticky!” said Edward as he rolled the smashed banana on his plate using all his fingers.

The banana balls were then kept in the fridge so that they could enjoy them during their tea time.
